Search Engine Optimisation is used to describe the process involved in designing your website in a way that it will appear higher in search engine rankings.  It has played a vital role in ecommerce.  It has been growing rapidly through out the past years, which has brought about success to many online businesses today.

  • 1998- SEO could now improve the number of incoming links to their sites.
  • Late 2002- Domain authority has emerged.  SEO grow the value of their websites from websites with authority.
  • 2006- Link Context is the text around a hyperlink.  SEO’s used that to improve the content of the website as a whole.
  • 2009- 2010,  User Signals- it decreased the amount of time that people needed to spend in searching to find what they want.  As users search better results come up.
