The Northern Office Attends the Best Practices in Marketing, Strategy and Innovation Forum
As part of the company’s proactive goal of implementing the most recent marketing innovations and strategies, The Northern Office participates in different events and forums that can help produce new marketing ideas for the company’s diverse list of clients. Last May 14, 2010, Business World, the country’s first and leading business newspaper held its first leg of Best Practices Forum at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas Center and The Northern Office’s Director Mr. John Joe Morgan and Account Manager Mr. Gino Yturralde were in attendance. The event highlighted the innovative ideas and trends on different business tools and strategies tried and tested by the successful organizations.
Together with Mansmith and Fielders, Inc., “Best Practices in Marketing, Strategy and Innovation” featured three highly respected speakers namely Josiah Go (Marketing and Innovation), Donald Lim (Online Marketing and Innovation) and Chiqui Escareal – Go (Service Marketing Innnovation). The forum included a workshop and a question and answer portion to help clarify and discuss in detail the learnings and marketing techniques in each presentation.
Some of the highlights were:
- Marketing and Innovation. Mr. Go presented and discussed the Mansmith’s Business Model Innovation (BMI) Framework that integrates marketing, finance and operations. The BMI is composed of 3V’s (value creation, value maneuvering and value capture) which aims to attain superior economic value for the company and 4C’s (channel, customer bonding, configuration and complementors). He cited a case study on Xerox using BMI that created huge revenue. Among other things that were discussed are the difference between strategies and business models.
- Online Marketing Innovation. Mansmith’s chief e-marketing strategist, Mr. Lim talked about the huge Filipino consumers using the internet, mentioned different brands that had successfully used online marketing innovations and the impact of Facebook on e-commerce. He suggested the use of the web in creating marketing innovations and not just focusing on Facebook alone but using all other possibilities. He finished with a quote saying, “I do not believe you can do today’s job with yesterday’s methods and be in business tomorrow.”
- Service Marketing Innovation. The importance of Service-Profit Chain was discussed by Mrs. Escareal-Go, stressing the importance of linking employees and customers in improving company performance. She also talked about Doblin’s 10 types of innovation and how can companies generate higher returns by simultaneously innovating across multiple innovation types.
